Kasargod, August 3: A 28-year-old woman from Bihar has been detained by the police at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi, along with her 5-year-old son, on suspicion of recruiting people to join the ISIS. The woman was on her way to Afghanistan to lead a true muslim life.

The woman, identified as Yasmin Ahmed, is believed to be close to Abdul Rashid, a native of Kasaragod, who is the prime suspect behind the 21 missing from Kerala.

The woman who is a divorcee, was detained by immigration officials “during security check” amid tense scenes after she “started screaming at officials for harassing her”, they said.

”She was handed over to Delhi Police’s special cell and later taken into custody by a team from Kerala Police, which had issued a Look-out Circular (LOC) for her,” said sources.

“We took her into custody from New Delhi and brought her here yesterday. She was charged under various sessions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). A court here later remanded her to judicial custody,” Kanhangad Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Babu told PTI.

”She was to leave the country along with the Kerala youths, but could not do so due to some delay in getting her documents cleared,” said sources.

Yasmeen reportedly told police that she wanted to leave India as the life she wanted to lead was not possible in the country. She apparently said she wanted to lead a life according to the Quran, and that she hated music and all forms of entertainment.
