Winds of change blow through the RSS as the Sangh looks at a face-lift of its image

Bangalore, July 20: As the Sangh moves closer to its completing 100 years of functioning , the RSS hopes to change the opinion and the view people take towards it. The move comes in the backdrop of questions being asked all the time over its role in the freedom struggle and the bans imposed on it.
The history of the RSS and its stand on various issues will soon be made available to its supporters to help bring in a new form of clarity over its functioning and ideologies. RSS functionaries are already working to help clear the clutter of misinformation and half-truths being spread about it said several RSS insiders.
Apparently, the cadres of the Sangh will also be soon armed with enough information in the days lining up to the Independence day to help them react appropriately and respond with facts to questions regarding the Sangh’s contribution and role in the freedom struggle.
The exercise comes in the wake of the defamation case in which the Supreme court pulled up Rahul Gandhi of “collective denunciation” of the RSS. Mr Gandhi had asked the top court to cancel the lawsuit against him but instead the court made it clear that it wasn’t willing to do so and that Mr Rahul Gandhi may have to apologise or face trial for the same .
The episode has prompted several members of the Sangh to comment on the issue including the spokesperson MG Vaidya who said that the Congress has been consistently trying to spread lies and baseless allegations about RSS and that the recent ruling only exposed the Congress.
Mr Rakesh Sinha who heads the India Policy Foundations agreed with the image makeover exercise saying, “The younger generation needs to be told that the RSS has been politically and legally exonerated. It has been proved legally that the RSS had no role in Gandhiji’s assassination, yet the Congress has been spreading wrong information about the ban on the RSS and its subsequent lifting,”
