Chennai photographer claiming to help damsel in distress unable to locate exact crime spot says police

Chennai July 25:A Facebook post by a Chennai man claiming to see three men attempting to gangrape a woman as he was returning from a Kabali movie on Saturday saying that he rushed to the aid of the woman .But when police asked him to find the spot, where the alleged crime took place, he was unable to trace it.

Vasanth Paul, a model, posted on his Facebook page in the wee hours of Saturday morning that after watching “Kabali”, he stopped at Alandur to have a smoke. It was at that point that he came across the alleged crime.

He went on to claim that when he tried to save the girl, he was strangled with a thick jute rope by one of the men.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Kalyan told The News Minute that Vasanth Paul was not able to locate the spot where the incident happened. He could not enact the incident also.

However, the police are unaware about how Vasanth sustained injuries on his neck.

Vasanth also wrote that an autorickshaw driver came to the rescue of the woman and hit the three men. The three men ran away and a police complaint was not filed as per the woman’s request, his post claimed.

DCP Kalyan said, “As far as the police is concerned, the case is closed as we are unable to trace the victim or the autorickshaw driver either.”
