Radiologists to join nationwide IRIA stir against harrassment so no more CT,MRI or ultrasonography

JAIPUR,Sept1: Radiologists from the state will join nationwide strike of radiographers from Thursday. Therefore, they will not conduct CT scan, MRI, X-rays and sonography. They have accused the government of harassment in the pretext of minor clerical errors and wrong implementation of the Pre-conception Pre-natal Diagnostic Technique (PCPNDT) Act 1994 by the appropriate authorities in the country.
“We will keep our centres shut and we will not conduct CT scan, MRIs, X-rays and sonography on Thursday protesting against the government. From Friday, we will not conduct sonogrphy for indefinite period till our demands are not met,” Dr MPGoyal, secretary of Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA) said.
Dr Dheeraj Gupta, state PCPNDT coordinator, IRIA Rajasthan said, “So far 600 cases have already been filed for flouting PCPNDT Act. But, majority of the cases were filed for procedural lapses. Cases were filed for clerical errors which is wrong.”
“We extended full support to government for the noble cause of Beti bachao beti padhao, but at the same time we protest against non-uniform and harsh implementation of PCPNDT Act. We request government to resolve the matter so that innocent radiologists are not harassed,” Dr Rajiv Ahuja, president, IRIA (Rajasthan Chapter) said.
