Modi’s rule and not Anandiben Patel ,the reason for Gujarat’s present state of affairs, says Rahul Gandhi

Ahmedabad August 2: After Anandiben Patel’s resignation as Gujarat CM ,Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was quick to react , took to Twitter to claim credit for Patel’s decision.Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday hit out at the top leadership of the BJP saying Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel was being made a scapegoat as the ‘Gujarat burns’. In a tweet this morning, Rahul said: “13 years of Modi rule, not 2 years of Anandiben are responsible for Gujarat burning. Sacrificing the scapegoat won’t save the BJP,” perhaps referring to the upcoming 2017 Assembly elections in the state.
Patel on Monday sent her resignation to the party leadership. Sources told The Indian Express that she had, two months ago, sent her resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but he refused to accept it. They further stated that her resignation was an indication of her losing grip over the state’s politics. Her resignation came as no surprise to the top brass of the party.
The BJP party has introduced a tradition of senior leaders voluntarily stepping down when they complete 75 years of age.Anandiben Patel said that she will complete 75 years in November 2016.
