Madhya Pradesh Assembly passes GST bill

Bhopal, Aug 24 : The Madhya Pradesh assembly on Wednesday to passed the Goods and Service Tax (GST) Constitution Amendment Bill.

After the bill passed by assembly, Madhya Pradesh  becomes seventh state in the country to ratify it. Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh passed the bill till Monday while Gujarat gave its nod on Tuesday.

Already passed by parliament, the Bill will introduce a nationwide indirect tax on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods and services. It will create conditions for India to become a common market in terms of uniform tax treatment of trade and commerce across states.

The legislatures of Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand and Bihar have already ratified the Bill.
