Kerala Man ends life after writing suicide note to Chief Minister

Alappuzha, Kerala, Aug 27: Alleging police harassment over a complaint lodged against a neighbor who harassed his daughter-in-law, a man here committed suicide on Friday.
Krishnakumar, a native of Karthikappally, ended his life after writing a note against the police.
In the letter, Krishnakumar holds Thrikunnapuzha SI Kunhumon and Unni for his death.
A native of Kottapally here, Krishnakumar had filed complaint at the Thrikkunnapuzha police station saying that his daughter-in- law was being harassed over phone by a man called Unni. However, the police did not take any action on the complaint. Krishnakumar committed suicide due to the mental agony resulting from police inaction on his complaint.
Krishnakumar hanged himself to death after writing separate letters to the chief minister and his relatives.
As per the letter, his neighbor, Unni, used to trouble his daughter-in-law over phone and in person.
Krishnakumar lodged a complaint against Unni at the Thrikkunnapuzha police station.
Krishnakumar’s kin said that the police did not take action even after five days after the complaint was lodged. Following this, the women in the neighbourhood warned Unni. Close on the heels of this incident, a quotation gang from Mavelikkara reached Krishnakumar’s house and verbally abused him. They also threatened that his son will be included in a case and beaten up, Krishnakumar’s relatives said.
“I believe that the problem in my family will end with my death. Let the bad policemen learn a lesson fom my death atleast. If such people remains in service, the life and honour of poor girls will have not value. Let my death result in change this situation,” the note said.
The relatives say that police inaction on Krishnakumar’s complaint and the threatening of the police led to his suicide.
The autorickshaw of Krishnakumar was used in the LDF election campaign for the recent elections. Krishnakumar had written separate notes to the Chief Minister and party workers.
One of the notes was posted on the wall and the other one was found below his cot.
There are allegations that the police tried to tear the note on the wall when they reached Krishnakumar’s house after hearing about the suicide.
