Enforcement Directorate summoned Nalini Chidambaram for questioning in Saradha chit-fund scam

New Delhi, Aug 24: The Enforcement Directorate(ED) has summoned Nalini Chidambaram, wife of former finance minister P Chidambaram, for questioning in connection with the Saradha chit-fund scam, PTI reported on Wednesday.
Chennai-based senior lawyer Nalini Chidambaram was dragged into the Saradha scam after Sudipta Sen, the disgraced chairman of the busted chit fund, claimed he paid more than Rs 1 crore to her at the instance of Manoranjana Singh, the estranged wife of Congress leader Matang Singh.
In an 18-page letter sent to CBI in April 2013, the Saradha boss alleged that he paid for Nalini Chidambaram’s visits to Kolkata and for her stays in a 5-star hotel. He went on to add that Nalini pressured him to invest Rs 42 crore in Manoranjana’s company without “assessing my financial strength”.
