New Delhi August 24: There seems to be no end in sight to crimes in Delhi as another shameful incident of rape has taken place in the national capital.

In a shocking incident, an eight-year-old girl, who was sleeping outside her house, was abducted and gangraped by three men in East Delhi’s Mandawali on Sunday night, according to a report in TOI.

Three men, Amir, Bhim Sen and Santosh alias Bhure, were arrested for the crime by Monday evening. The accused are daily wage labourers and stayed in the girl’s neighbouring hutments.

An FIR under IPC Section 376D and Section 6 of POCSO Act has been registered and the accused have been sent to Tihar Jail. The police said they will file a chargesheet within a month.

Around 11pm on Sunday, Bhure gagged the sleeping girl with his hand and took her to the jungle area near the Yamuna riverbank. The three men then raped the girl in turns.

Later, they dumped the girl near her house and fled.

The girl, bleeding profusely from her private parts, crawled her way home and called out to her parents. “I was horrified to see my child’s condition. The men had tied a bloodstained cloth around her neck and left her near the house. She fainted after I picked her up. Her ordeal had lasted nearly two hours after she was kidnapped,” said the child’s father, an agricultural labourer.

The family rushed her to the nearby Lal Bahadur Shashtri hospital. The police were informed and, as the girl was critical, she was taken to AIIMS Trauma Center and admitted in the ICU.

Police officers recorded the statements of the child’s parents and launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
Around 25 policemen were sent in teams and the trio was nabbed by Monday morning. They were produced before a magistrate in the afternoon who sent them to judicial custody for 14 days.

The victim is currently admitted in AIIMS Trauma Centre.
